"A major upgrade for one is a minor upgrade for all."
"Loot is not a reward, it is a tool to help us accomplish our goal." It is within these two motto's that guild structure is strengthened and made solid. There is no competition for loot because one can not compete with one's self for loot and that is what we are, one. If this concept is something you fail to grasp or don't care to grasp, you won't last long with us. In my fifteen years of being a leader or member of guilds, both casual and top world ranked alike, I've learned to do things differently from most. One of those things is to view loot for what it is, a tool and a means to an end. Many, many people get side tracked and lose focus on what loot's true purpose is. So many people in MMO's view loot as a reward to themselves for time and effort and they are not wrong for doing so. We all strive to make our character the best that they can be but many of us tend to not think about the possibility that we do it at cost of the guild's true potential. Step back for a moment and view the guild as a finely tuned racing machine. You can upgrade the engine but what good is a better engine if the frame can't handle the torque? It's all about structure. Each part of our guild accounts for a piece of one finely tuned machine. Here's a streamline example of cause and effect. Upgrading the tank makes it easier and more mana efficient for healers to heal. Making heals less stressful and more timely allows for our tank to focus on aggro management more so than where the next life saving skill, talent, or potion will come from. Allowing our tank to focus purely on building aggro allows for DPS to focus on skill chains and maximum damage per second output rather than splitting that needed attention between the threat meters & aggro reduction. See how upgrading one role effects others? Same goes for other roles, just more over all benefit in some than others. In any case, loot decisions are based off benefit to the guild and not the individual players themselves. If you are in this guild with the primary goal of gearing yourself out, then leave it now and there will be no animosity what-so-ever. Gear will come regardless if you want it to or not so there is no need for it to be your primary focus. If you are here to progress through the end game and earn the right to say you are truly amongst the best, then buckle up. Loot When a boss is dropped, all items are linked in raid chat. After said items are linked, it is your job to determine which of the items you are interested in. The loot officer will then link each item individually that is up for grabs. First will be Main Set, second will be Off Set, third will be Disenchant. Should a piece of loot drop that you want for Main Set, it is your job to send a link to /O containing a link of the item it is to replace when it is called out to do so. The loot officer, sometimes with the assistance of other officers, will then decide which members are to random or which member it is going to be assigned to. Loot Priority There is one role and one role only that has loot priority over all others and that is the tank, the two main tanks to be exact. Does this mean that tanks will be able to pick and choose whatever they want? No, it does not. They will pick nothing when it comes to loot that is assigned to them over others who are just as deserving. Officers will pick what they can or can not receive as a priority upgrade over others based off what is best for tanks and best for our guild. Loot by Scale of Upgrade In some cases, some loot may be a much larger upgrade for some members than it is for others. If the role of any said member is a crucial one, say a healer, it may be taken upon the officer(s) to look at the individual upgrades and decide which member is to be assigned the loot. That being one of many possible examples because in some cases, crucial role or not, it may just be assigned to the person it flat out most benefits. i.e. Healer_1 can receive a 7mp5 and 12 intellect upgrade from Helm_002. DPS_1 can receive a 5 agi 7attk upgrade from Helm_002. It may or may not be decided by officers to assign the upgrade to Healer_1 Some cases will be decided by officers and when they are, they are not negotiable. If you are not looking to be apart of a guild that bases it's loot system with guild progression in mind, then search for a guild that bases their loot off of DKP. Loot by Rank In our guild, we have three raid eligible rank. Applicant, Reinforcement & Core Raider. It is to be understood by both Reinforcement and Core Raiders that the other is of equal importance. Reason being is that Reinforcements are still held to an attendance standard and are equally important to the guild. Having the rank of Core Raider one month does not mean you will be a Core Raider the next. At the end of every month, Core Raiders and Reinforcements will be evaluated. If a Reinforcement is deemed to be better suited for a position in Core Raider status or a Core Raider is deemed to be better suited for Reinforcement status (or doesn't meet the requirements to maintain Core Raider status), ranks will be adjusted accordingly on the first of every month. For this reason, we can not have Reinforcements lacking gear. This is one mere example. Loot will be distributed to Core Raider over Reinforcement in cases of said loot being a major upgrade and/or rare drop. This will be handled under the sole discretion of the loot officer and is not arguable nor negotiable by either side. Applicants are at the bottom of the food chain and I'm sure that any applicant that runs with us can understand this concept as well as understand that there are multiple reasons for it. For the most part, it is to protect the guild and weed out loot whores. During times of crisis (short on a geared role), we will gear up applicants that we know to be good raiders. Examples: Previous guild members that have come back to the game. There are also special cases for Offspec gear as well. When something goes to Offspec, the items will be given out based upon how often we utilize people's offspecs. If its offspec tank loot, for example, it will go to those first who tank on our raids. Trade skill Recipes, Patterns, Enchants, etc. When such an item drops, it is your job to automatically know whether or not you want it and if so, alert the loot officer of your decision when the item is called out in raid chat. The loot officer will decide who it goes to based off of many factors, you can sum it up to the most deserving. In many cases but not all, this will be left to random amongst several people who all possess and/or meet the factors considered when deciding who the loot goes to. Loot Disputes If you ever feel wronged and/or an item was assigned to a person unjustly, speak to the officer. Even though the loot officer is unbiased when it comes to who the loot is assigned to, mistakes can be made. It is your job to handle such situations with self respect in mind at all times. It is also your job to bring your concern to the attention of the loot officer, or myself in a proper and timely manner. You do not at any point, or under any circumstance, ever discuss loot disputes in tells with non officers, guild channels, or public channels, before the matter is brought to the attention of an officer and is addressed. Doing so is considered the same as a violation of CoC and will be handled accordingly. ie: Removal/Demotion. Captains are NOT officers. |
